Faithful Hands

We’ve all heard the term. Imposter Syndrome. It leaves us paralyzed, questioning our abilities and capacity to do what we are called to do.

Some definitions summarize imposter syndrome as self-doubt and having a negative self-perception. 

However, in the Bible, we can see this as doubt in God as our loving Father and Creator.

When we doubt who God created us to be or have a negative perception of ourselves, we are telling God that He must have somehow messed up on us.

When we doubt, we question God’s design for us.

Isaiah poses the following questions, ones we should also reflect on:

“How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it. “He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say “The potter who made me is stupid”?” Isaiah 29:16 NLT

When we let God, our Creator, define us, we see that he created us each with a wonderful and specific design and purpose (Psalms 139:14). He made us for good works (Ephesians 2:10).

Because of Jesus, we are now God’s children (Galatians 4:7).

God sees when we struggle with fear and doubt. He knew we would face challenging things, otherwise, He would not have had to tell us to not fear so many times (Isaiah 43:1, Joshua 1:9, Psalms 23:4, and many more).

God also never designed us to go through life without him. We are to be fully dependent on Him in all areas of our lives. Jesus tells us this power works best in weakness. When we are weak, He is strong (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). 

Therefore, if you are in Christ, you are not an imposter, you are a child of God! 

“But all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”

John 1:12 NLT
